About this speaker
Kalvinder has 27 years’ experience of working in both the voluntary and public sectors, specialising in the delivery and commissioning of support services for vulnerable young people and adults. Since 2017, Kalvinder has developed a Prevention First approach within adult social care for the commissioning of and investment in community assets. Her portfolio as Head of Service also covers social justice, whole life course approaches, preparation for adulthood, unpaid carers, migration and wellbeing support.
Kalvinder led on the development of Birmingham’s prevention strategies for Homelessness and Domestic Abuse, and the commissioning of the associated services. She chairs the Birmingham Homelessness Partnership Board, overseeing the work across disciplines and agencies to prevent homelessness across the city.
Kalvinder also works with the West Midlands Combined Authority and the seven West Midlands local authorities on the MHCLG-funded Housing First pilot, for which Birmingham City Council acts as the delegated accountable body.
